VIRTUAL MEETING

Whether it is attempting to balance the new "work from home" environment, caretaking responsibilities, coping with fear and isolation, grieving the loss of a job, or financial hardship, COVID-19 has significantly impacted the lives of employees around the world. According to Mental Health America's 2021 State of Mental Health Report, there has been a 93% increase in the number of people looking for help with anxiety and depression. Employers at an increasing rate have shared their concerns about the well-being of their employees and the negative effects generated by the pandemic. Employers are stepping up and trying to find innovative ways to address mental health beyond a standard Employee Assistance Program. The conversation starts with the importance of addressing all dimensions of well-being and not in isolation along with acknowledging the impact the workplace culture and social determinants of health have on overall workforce health.

SHRM/HRCI Learning Objectives:

At the end of the session, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify why addressing total well-being at the workplace is important to employers
  • List best practice strategies to address mental health in the workplace
  • Summarize how workplace culture and Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) can positively impact employee engagement and health outcomes
