Speaker Bio:

John Wrenn is working on the Veterans Economic Communities Initiative as an Economic Liaison for the Hampton Roads, Virginia region.
John is a retired Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) officer with 26 years of service.  His Operational tours include UDT TWENTY-TWO; SEAL Team ONE; SEAL Team THREE; Naval Special Warfare Group TWO and Command of Special Boat Unit ELEVEN.  He has extensive experience conducting foreign internal defense and maritime civil affairs, with numerous foreign deployments.  His operational deployments include Operations EARNEST WILL and PRIME CHANCE, and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. His staff tours include Commander, Naval Special Warfare; Command of Naval Reserve Center Charleston WV and Naval Reserve Center Huntington, WV; Office of the Chief of Naval Reserve (OPNAV 095) and the Joint Forces Staff College where he was the Instructor of the Year for 2005. Since retiring from the Navy in 2006 John has held several civilian positions, first at Blackwater as the Program Manager for Special Projects, then as the Director for Global Stability Operations and finally as the Director of Corporate Communications.  John next worked for NHV LLC as the Program Manager for Navy Installations Command Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Training.  He then worked in Africa for two years at Camp Lemmonier, Djibouti as the Installation Business Manager and Future Plans officer, overseeing a $210M annual budget and the transition from expeditionary camp to Naval Air Facility.  Most recently, he was the Chief Operating Officer for MYMIC LLC with direct P&L responsibility and oversight of 90 employees, 72% of who were veterans. John received his Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Northridge and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma.  He is a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College and a designated Joint Specialty Officer.
John was raised in the greater Los Angeles, CA area, and now lives in Virginia Beach with his wife Vickie and their youngest son Duncan (17).  They have three additional sons, Evan (26), Nathan (23) and Austin (22).
