Peninsula SHRM Collaboration Event with the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce

In today’s labor market, employee expectations around benefits are higher and more varied than ever. For many organizations—especially small businesses—benefits have become a critical differentiator in attracting and retaining talent. At the same time, in larger or more competitive markets, comprehensive benefits are no longer a differentiator at all, but an expectation. Without clear insight into how their offerings compare, organizations risk misalignment: investing in benefits employees don’t value or falling behind peers in areas that matter most to the workforce.

This March session introduces the fundamentals of benefits benchmarking and shows how organizations can use market data to understand how their benefits compare to others in the region. Participants will learn where their offerings are strong, where they may be falling behind, and how this information can guide smarter decisions about what to offer employees. The session will also explore trends shaping what today’s workforce expects and how organizations can stay competitive without overspending.

During the session, attendees will be invited to participate in the free, noobligation 2026 Benefits Benchmarking Survey, which provides access to national, state, and regional insights. The results of this survey will be shared during a followup session in July, where we will discuss how to apply the findings to organizational decisionmaking and future benefits planning.

Following the presentation, attendees are invited to stay for dedicated networking time. This is a rare opportunity to connect with both Peninsula SHRM members and Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce members—two professional communities coming together for a uniquely valuable exchange.
