As a diversity and inclusion (D&I) practitioner, consultant, and educator, Dr. Carmen Phelps has 20+ years of experience partnering with organizations seeking to advance their brand; increase workforce productivity; attract diverse talent to key positions; appeal to diverse markets; design effective communications strategies for engaging diverse groups and improve workplace culture. As the lead consultant for Project 986 Consulting, she prioritizes relationship-building and service in order to design effective strategies for integrating D&I principles into the practices of for profit and nonprofit organizations while ensuring that each process is tailored to every clients' unique brand, mission and goals. An experienced D&I thought leader and strategic planner with professional experience in marketing, promotions, and public relations and an academic background in cultural studies, Carmen

has successfully designed and initiated results-oriented leadership and workforce development D&I-focused programs, workshops, trainings, dialogues, and discussion processes that encourage cultural competency, awareness and understanding as well as community-building across difference that inspire organizational growth and progress.
