Speaker: Troy Vandenberg, Talent Acquisition Manager, Smithfield Foods

Speaker Bio:

Troy Vandenberg graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2003. Upon graduation, he accepted a commission as a U.S. Naval Officer where he spent 10 years working in nuclear propulsion and submarine maintenance projects. While in the Navy he obtained his Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School in 2010.
 
Upon transitioning from active duty in 2012, Troy worked as a consultant for a national military placement agency consulting companies in ways to hire transitioning military veterans and then was an area manager for a national staffing agency. He’s been in his current role as the Military Talent Acquisition Manager for Smithfield Foods since May of 2017, where he heads the military recruitment and outreach efforts for the organization, directly supporting Smithfield Food’s Operation 4000! initiative to employ 4,000 veterans by the end of 2020.
 
In his personal life, Troy lives in Smithfield, Virginia with his wife, Sarah, and their two kids, Brayden and Elliot.
